I am making a documentary “Created Equal: The Artists of Alchemia”, narrated by JULIE (CATWOMAN) NEWMAR, whose son has Down’s syndrome, about the mentally and physically challenged adults at the Alchemia program in Novato, California. They are artists who let no obstacle get in the way of them creating art and selling it at the Alchemia A.W.O.L. gallery (Artists Without Labels) I started an Indiegogo campaign July 25 to raise funds for the documentary about these wonderful artists. I am trying to raise $20,000 for the film by August 25. One of the artists I’ve already filmed is legally blind, yet paints beautiful pictures. I don’t consider the people I work with disabled. Their spirit is not disabled. I think people with prejudice are the ones who are truly disabled. Take a look at my video pitch. It will make you laugh and it will make you cry. http://www.indiegogo.com/created-equal .
