On this week’s Destruct-O-Cast: making a Super Haters comic strip from start to finish. Join Nick Marino as he details his creation process, revealing lots of little Super Haters secrets along the way!

It all starts with the plot, building it up through brainstorming and conversation. Then, after plenty of tweaks, the process moves onto the scripting phase.

Once the initial script is complete, it’s time to put the characters in place. After the panels are composed, they’re copied into another file and lettered.

The time-consuming lettering stage is also an opportunity to rewrite the dialogue and tighten up the jokes. Once that’s finished, the webcomic is exported, uploaded, and posted to the Super Haters blog.

Above is the final product, Super Haters #339, which is then shared across multiple social media networks including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Google+. AND THAT’S A WRAP!

• Spider-Men is coming in June.
• Director Matthew Vaughn is returning for an X-Men: First Class sequel, Deadline reported Monday. The news was tucked into a post on Fox production president Emma Watts sticking with the studio through 2015, along with word that Bryan Singer is returning as producer, and that Simon Kinberg — a First Class producer and co-writer of X-Men: The Last Stand — will write the screenplay. Though no other details are yet available — like possible storylines, actors returning or an estimated start time for production — in the same article Deadline speculates that Chronicle director Josh Trank might be tapped for a Fantastic Four reboot, also at Fox. X-Men: First Class, released last June, grossed $146.4 million domestically, for a worldwide total of $353.6 million.
• Ghost Rider 2 Movie is being realeased in Theaters February 17.

Once again, DC Comics made an announcement that darn near cracked the internet in half. New mini-series’ are coming out based on the characters from Watchmen, written and drawn by some of the best talent the industry has to offer.

Naturally, the Alan Moore and the fans had something to say about that. And so do we.

World's Finest Comics #88!

WORLD’S FINEST COMICS 88, May/June 1957, was published around March 28, 1957. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of a dime. The editor was Mort Weisinger, and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by Stan Kaye.

The 12 page Superman and Batman story was titled SUPERMAN’S AND BATMAN’S GREATEST FOES, written by Edmond Hamilton, pencilled by dick Sprang and inked by Stan Kaye. This story has been reprinted in: BATMAN FROM THE 30′S TO THE 70′S, THE GREATEST JOKER STORIES EVER TOLD, SUPERMAN/BATMAN: THE GREATEST STORIES EVER TOLD, WORLD’S FINEST ARCHIVES vol. II and SHOWCASE PRESENTS: WORLD’S FINEST vol. I.

Green Arrow starred in the 6 page story, THE IMPRISONED ARCHER, drawn by George Papp.

Tomahawk starred in the issue’s final story, A PISTOL FOR TOMAHAWK, drawn by Fred Ray.

Opening with Rucka Punisher, we like it but it’s strange to see a red puking vulture. weird. We then wonder about Ennis’ legacy to mainstream comics; Then we move out to Unwritten, where we actually use the word “parse” without irony; talk about good long runs briefly and who did what with them; and the dangers that go with them. Like Bendis. We take some live tweets like namor and aquaman; Kick-Ass 2 sparks a nasty debate where Tech gets seriously uncomfortable. It’s a roundabout conversation that ends in a vow not to buy kick ass again. Although Superior IS a lot of fun and we *are* looking
forward to that.There’s a contrast there that’s difficult to handle. Brilliant bores us terribly. We talk about Batgirl, Fear Itself finally completes. Fiction naming conventions piss me off. We SO look forward to the DEFENDERS! And SO. MUCH. MORE
